Messrs. Costain West Africa were commissioned to carry out design and build work on the 12-storey block of flats on Marine road, Apapa in Lagos which belongs to the Delta State Government. Costain appointed us as Architects to carry out design and supervision work while they would do the construction. The existing property is a block of 22 No. flats with a penthouse covering the top floor level.

The first thing we did was to prepare a dilapidation schedule. This was now followed by design and specification work which covered walls, floors, ceilings, fittings, kitchens, bathrooms and the air-conditioning. The building originally had a central air-conditioning system which we have now re-designed so that split unit air-conditioners are used.
The 2 lifts are also to be replaced. The external wall finish which was a trowel finish has been stripped and is being replaced with mosaic tiles.

We have designed a 2-storey block of domestic staff quarters with 24 rooms so that each of the flats has one room and there are 2 rooms for the penthouse floor.

A new swimming pool has been designed to overlook the creek.
For the external works, the generator house is being refurbished, the collapsed borehole is also being refurbished and the water treatment plant is also being refurbished.
