More honours came the way of The Guardian at the weekend, when professional architects practising in Lagos gathered at a dinner and award night for members to mark the closing ceremony for its biennial general meeting.

The Guardian was capped "for being the most outstanding print media house in the propagation of architecture and the built environment issues". The award was bestowed on the organisation by the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Lagos Chapter. The chapter has the highest concentration of architects in the country.

The state's chapter Chairman, Mr. Enyi Ben-Eboh while presenting the award urged The Guardian to continue in its tradition and ideals of educating Nigerians on the built environment.

Amongst the awardees in the media category are Nigerian Television Authority. Other award recipents include Professors Joseph Igwe and Niyi Okedele, both architects, who were elevated to the status of professor by the University of Lagos.

The architects' also used the occassion to celebrate 12 senior colleagues who were recently elected in the prestigious class of fellows of the institute. The newly crowned fellows include:

3) Mr. Adedeji Ola-Oye Oyenuga

4) Mr. Samuel Cookey (Jnr.)

5) Mr. Kitoye Ibare-Akinsan

6). Mr. Fred Coker

7) Mr. Ayoola Tokunbo Onajide

8) Brig-Gen Patrick Manuel Olatunde Reis

9) Mr. Tokunbo Omisore

10) Mr. Olufemi Samuel Fakolade
